Representation of the Madeira Tourism Office for the Spanish professional sector since May 2021.

OBJECTIVE

Representation of the Madeira destination for the repositioning of the Madeira product among tour operators and travel agencies in Spain, achieving the seasonal adjustment of the destination and increasing the existing programming in the market.

SOLUTION

Since the beginning of the representation of the Madeira Tourism account for the Spanish professional sector, The Blueroom Project has maintained a fluid relationship with the sector for the communication of the opening activities, information of the benefits of the destination, connectivity in direct flights from the main Spanish cities, the security it offers to the Spanish visitor. Among other cations, sales calls, virtual and face-to-face presentations have been carried out in different cities of Spain, development of an e-learning course, which has allowed us to show the attractions and increase knowledge of the archipelago, as well as keeping Madeira in the wish list of the travellers and travel agents. One of the main objectives in the first phase being to promote the inclusion of Madeira destination programming in agencies and tour operators that had not previously considered operations to the island.

Main achievements in the period between May and August 2021:

  • Contact with all the Spanish trade tour operators. 
  • Meetings with the main CEOs of the Spanish tour operators.
  • Direct contact with new airlines.
  • Thematic newsletters to more than 11,000 recipients.
  • Telegram Madeira Island Group.
  • Fam Trips. 
  • Training seminars.

This 2021 summer, Madeira added direct flights from Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid, Santiago de Compostela, Malaga and Almeria. 

RESULTS

After a post-COVID recovery process, Madeira has positioned itself as one of the safest and most demanded destinations to travel during the summer of 2021 according to the list prepared by the European Best Destinations (EBD), which has assessed a series of aspects, such as the successful reopening of this destination and the containment of the pandemic to grant it that recognition.

The good air connections with direct flights from the main cities of Spain and the increase in the product among the main tour operators and travel agencies in the country have resulted in an exceptional summer season with a historical record of international visitors, particularly highlighting as a success story the Spanish visitors.
