Madeira also joins the celebrations of World Tourism Day. After July, when tourism in the region reached record levels, with 1 million overnight stays, the first time this number has been recorded per month, the tourism sector continues to be a determining factor and is an increasingly important part of the islands economic activity.

Made up of four groups of islands, two of them inhabited (Madeira and Porto Santo), and the other two not inhabited (Desert Islands and Wild Islands). Its year-round spring-like climate and its orography allow the destination to offer a wide range of outdoor activities in contact with nature: diving, boat trips, whale watching, cliff climbing, surfing, cycling, hiking along its “levadas” or routes, all year round.
