On April 14, The Blueroom Project organized a lunch in Madrid with tourism-specialized journalists to present, together with the Madeira Promotion Bureau, the main highlights and latest developments of the Madeira archipelago. Comprising two islands, Madeira is consolidating its position as one of the most complete and versatile destinations in the Atlantic.

Direct Flights to the Destination

During the event, emphasis was placed on the archipelago’s current air connectivity with Spain, with direct flights operated by airlines such as Iberia, Air Nostrum, Binter Canarias and Air Horizont. Madeira’s strategic location between Europe and Africa, just over 1,000 kilometers from mainland Europe, was also highlighted.

Funchal and Its Cultural and Gastronomic Richness

The capital city, Funchal, was a central focus of the event thanks to its balance between modernity and tradition. Attendees had the opportunity to discover its historic center, the Mercado dos Lavradores, its vibrant local life and cultural offerings, as well as its historical and architectural heritage.

Local gastronomy also played a prominent role, with special attention given to traditional dishes such as espetada, black scabbardfish, tuna and wheat soup, not to mention one of the destination’s great icons: Madeira wine, internationally renowned.

The Star of the Event: An Oasis in the Atlantic

The island of Porto Santo was the standout tourism highlight of the event. This small island, home to just 5,500 inhabitants, generated great interest among attendees thanks to its positioning as the perfect complement to Madeira: a 9‑kilometer stretch of golden sandy beach, turquoise waters, thalassotherapy offerings and a unique natural setting that invites relaxation and well-being, without giving up sports activities or golf.

Nature, Climate, Experiences and Active Tourism

Madeira reinforced its image as a natural paradise. From the gardens and parks of Funchal to the striking landscapes of the north and south coasts, visitors can enjoy iconic spots such as Câmara de Lobos, Cabo Girão, its natural swimming pools and black sand beaches.

The destination also reaffirmed one of its key messages: the islands’ mild and stable climate throughout the year. This pleasant weather, combined with its natural environment, makes Madeira an ideal destination in both winter and summer. Its privileged climate allows visitors to enjoy outdoor experiences in any season, positioning Madeira as a perfect option for city breaks, nature trips or active tourism.

Activities are another major draw: hiking, cycling, surfing, diving, golf (with three courses between Madeira and Porto Santo), and ocean-related experiences, reinforcing the archipelago’s image as a sporty and sustainable destination.

Events Throughout the Year

The lunch also served to highlight the extensive calendar of cultural, sporting and festive events held throughout the year in the archipelago, further consolidating Madeira as a dynamic and attractive destination.

With this event, Blueroom reinforces its commitment to promoting high-quality tourist destinations and its close collaboration with specialized media, offering spanish journalists a comprehensive and inspiring view of Madeira and Porto Santo.
