The award is considered the consolidation of recognition of the work of the tourism sector of the Portuguese autonomous region that has captivated visitors with its nature, culture, diverse experiences and identity. Previously, in the European edition of the World Travel Awards, Madeira won the award for Best Island Destination in Europe.
